FIGHTING MACHISMO

Honduras is one of the world’s most dangerous countries for women. A woman is murdered every 18 hours and 70 percent of the victims are under the age of 25. Most femicides are never investigated and remain unresolved. One in four girls aged 15 to 19 are pregnant, and abortion is not an option. Each year, around 100.000 Hondurans try to migrate. Nowadays, half of the migrants are women, and they are often sexually assaulted on the dangerous migrant route through Mexico. All over Honduras, women are now starting to push for change and fight the injustice, violence and the machismo culture and join the global outcry against female oppression and sexual assault.
